Name : Charlotte East
Age : 30
Charlotte East is a duathlete and triathlete, who's "addicted to cycling", she's already getting used to standing on top of the podium. Hopefully there will be even more enthusiasm and results in 2007.
Date you joined the Club : July 2006.
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers : ]I wanted to improve my cycling for the duathlon and triathlons that I compete in by doing 10 and 25 mile time trials on the bike. I got in touch with Ian Beston who gave me the details and it went from there. I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly and welcoming everyone was so I decided to join.
What made you start cycling : I cycled to and from work to keep fit.
What bike do you ride : Specialized Dolce for ladies and an old tatty mountain bike for commuting to work on - I call it resistance training. I wanted to ensure I could record some good times on my reliable but comparitively cheap bike before investing in a good bike! However next season may be the time to get into debt..."
Give us a brief cycling background : ]I bought my Specialized bike in August last year to compete in the London Duathlon, which was my first road bike, and have since become addicted to cycling! I have done 10 and 25 mile time trials this summer and competed in many duathlons and triathlons over the race season for 2006. My race season finished last week with a ninth place in my age group at the European Duathlon Champs in Rimini, Italy. It was an amazing event and a real eye opener, I am inspired to get quicker and try and get a medal one day.
Do you have a favourite pro cyclist or inspiration : ]I'm sure most people say this but I found lance armstrong's autobiograhpys incredibly inspiring. In duathlons I am motivated by CatrionaMorrison who won the National Championships in Edinburgh which I also raced in.
What was your best performance or ride : Fastest lady on the bike at the Newmarket Duathlon and second overall. I even got to stand on a podium to get a prize!
What was your worst day on the bike : ]None really, I enjoy cycling too much!
What is your favourite race food : ]Peanut butter and honey bagels before a race.
Where is your favourite cycling location : ]I dont have a specific location as I enjoy cycling in most places! I like the freedom of packing my bike up in my car and driving to Devon, Dorset and staying with friends and disappearing out for a long bike ride the morning after an evening of wine!
Most likely to say : "When's the next race : "
Least likely to say : "Don't think I'll train today!"
