Name : Chris Wright
Age : A bit too close to 50 for my liking...
Chris Wright has been a club member for a year now, he prefers fine cooking to energy gels and left a cabbie once saying "You'll never guess who I had in the back of my cab the other day".
What made you start cycling : To lose weight and stay fit whilst still enjoying lots of food and wine.
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers : Sociability whilst riding.
Date you joined the Club : September 2007.
What bike do you ride : Various, I’ve commuted for nearly 20 years so if I save £800 per annum, I’m allowed to buy a bike occasionally.
Give us a brief cycling background : A complicated medical history means I have to keep my weight down and stay fit, so I started commuting in 1989. I then did a Box Hill run occasionally, and now keep promising myself that I will do a Club 10.
What was your best performance or ride : I’m not sure I have a best. Keeping up with everyone on Sundays will do!
What was your worst day on the bike : The day I hit the back of a taxi...
Who is your favourite pro or inspiration : Trevor Brooking. Not a cyclist, but a true gentleman. Yes, I was a Hammers fan years ago.
What is your favourite bike food : A nice dinner at Chez Bruce the night before a Club Run.
Where is your favourite cycling location : Miami is warm, sunny and flat. I’m also a member of a very friendly club out there.
Most likely to say : "Yes, I will have another glass of Rioja/Chablis/Claret... etc"
Least likely to say : "I’ll lead the fast group today!!!"
